Project: Stoneham Land Donation to Vermont
Location: two small riverfront parcels of land downstream of the confluence of the Batten Kill and the Green River in West Arlington, VT.
Time Frame: 2012
Partners: Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, the Stonehams.
Problem Description: The Alliance received donation of two small parcels of riverfront land along the Batten Kill from the Stonehams but wanted to donate them to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department to support continuing wildlife habitat restoration and public access to the river for angling. This is significant since there is very little publicly held land along the river.
Project Work Completed: The parcels have been donated to VFWD. Good stewardship and public access are guaranteed forever.
Photos: Photos in the slideshow above show three views of the riverfront property, looking upstream (showing bank erosion) and down (with a newly fallen tree in the river), and looking upstream and across toward the Batten Kill's confluence with the Green River.
